About Jazz in the Hall

This series at the Old Fire Hall in downtown Whitehorse features local musicians creating new works.

All shows begin at 7pm. Tickets are $15 at the door, free for ages 19 and under.

Each event will feature...

  1. a jazz educational vignette
  2. a featured performance by leading Yukon jazz group
  3. an open jazz jam

The educational vignettes will be hosted by Steve Gedrose, creator and host of Radio Jazz Yukon and former owner of Rose Music.

The featured performances will present groups performing a variety of jazz styles and led by different well-known local musicians.

The jazz jam is open to musicians of all ages and abilities with an interest in improvisation or jazz. Each jam will have a leader to direct the session and a rhythm section provided by Jazz Yukon (piano, bass and drums). This is an opportunity, in a supportive environment to learn how jazz jams work, develop your improvisation skills and play with/learn from other musicians.
